What Is Anti-fingerprint Coating?

Anti-fingerprint coating is a surface treatment technology for metal substrates that resists the adhesion of fingerprints, grease, dust, and sweat stains, making cleaning easier. As a transparent film, it preserves the original glossy or matte finish.

What Is Anti-fingerprint Coating?

The anti-fingerprint treatment was designed to meet the requirements of home appliances. The coating is acrylic resin-modified coating. After the galvanized sheet is passivated, an organic coating (fingerprint-resistant coating) is applied to the passivation film by coil coating. Before coating, clean the base metal to remove oil, dust and other substances to enhance the adhesion of the coating to the substrate.

It is suitable for stainless steel, zinc-magnesium alloy, aluminum alloy, and galvanized steel. Especially on stainless steel products, it can reduce fingerprints, and it is easy to clean. The coating process flow is “Pre-treatment → Chromium-Free Passivation → Coating Application → Curing,” detailed as follows:

  • Substrate Pretreatment: Degreasing and chemical cleaning remove surface oils, dust, and oxidation layers.
  • Chromium-Free Passivation: This step forms a layer enhancing adhesion between the fingerprint-resistant coating and substrate.
  • Coating: Mainstream methods like spraying or dip coating ensure uniform application on the substrate surface.
  • High-Temperature Curing: The coating undergoes baking at elevated temperatures to achieve full cross-linking, forming a stable, dense protective film.
